More about FlourSack DishTowels and HandKnit DishCloths

Just in case you are new to FlourSack Towels; they’re called “flour sack towels” because the tightly woven cotton used to hold flour from the mid-1800s through the 1950s was re-purposed into towels, bedding, and clothing by the resourceful women of that day.

Flour sack towels are 100% cotton and lint-free which makes them ideal for dry-dusting TV and computer screens. They hold onto dirt better than any microfiber/Swiffer-style cloth I’ve used, so they’re great for dusting ceiling fans and blinds. You can also use them to dry lettuce and veggies after washing–just wrap the food in a clean flour sack towel and gently squeeze.

HandKnit DishCloths are more absorbent than paper towels, 100% cotton which makes them very soft and perfect for cleaning fine furniture, windows, and cars; they are reusable, machine washable and just the right size - just larger than the average size hand.

I try to color coordinate the dishcloths with the machine embroidered towels.  Below you will see what I currently have available.

And we're back, again. This time from Wisconsin..........................

I know, it sounds like we spend a lot of time traveling, but since my husband works for a school district, there isn't a lot of opportunity to get away during the school year. 

This time we were in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with our friends from the I.A.J.B.B.S.C.  Wait for it....International Association of Jim Beam Bottle and Specialties Club.  Otherwise knows as Beamers; among other things, we collect Jim Beam Liquor Decanters. 

This is one of the first trains we collected.  There are actually 4 train sets, one more grey caboose and we will have 3 complete trains plus a few extra cars.  That seems to be one of the pitfalls of collecting; you sometimes acquire duplicates.  More about that another day.

Now on to Grandma Jeannie's stuff.  Before we left for Milwaukee, my husband provided me with the opportunity to revamp the sewing room.  I need 3 more storage containers and the rest of my cutting table top.  The TV needs to be moved to a safer location, but when that is all completed......my oh my..............what a happy girl I will be.  Don't misunderstand, I loved my sewing room.  Just having one is a blessing, but this is closer to my dream come true.















Here is what I discovered during the process of emptying the room and reorganizing.  I have so much fabric and yarn, I am going to have to go on a fabric and yarn fast.  I need to use, sell, or trade before I can buy any more.  The one qualifier is if I have a special order or project, I am allowed to supply that.  So, during our trip, I was knitting dishcloths.  Hopefully, I can convince you to buy them along with some embroidered cotton flour sack dishtowels.  I will also be posting some Halloween items for you to enjoy and I need to make some new aprons and maybe some new shopping bags.  I'm going to post some pictures with pricing.  Today, dishtowels and dishcloths.
